phenoxyethanol is a broad-range preservative with fungicidal, bactericidal, insecticidal, and germicidal properties. It has a relatively low sensitizing factor in leave-on cosmetics. Phenoxyethanol can be used in concentrations of 0.5 to 2.0 percent, and in combination with other preservatives such as sorbic acid or parabens. In addition, it is used as a solvent for aftershaves, face and hair lotions, shampoos, and skin creams of all types. It can be obtained from phenol.

Malic acid is a chemical found in certain fruits and wines. It is sometimes used as medicine.
Malic acid is used most commonly for dry mouth. It is also used for fibromyalgia, fatigue, and skin conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these other uses.
In foods, malic acid is used as a flavoring agent to give food a tart taste.

Lactic acid is used as a humectant, or moisturizer, in some cosmetics and as a mordant, a chemical that helps fabrics accept dyes, in textiles. It is also used in making pickles , foods for which a sour taste is desired. Lactic acid is used in the dairy industry not only in making yogurt but in making cheese as well. It is also used in tanning leather. Lactic acid is important in the pharmaceutical industry as a starting material for other substances and is involved in the manufacturing of lacquers and inks. A related compound that is made from lactic acid is calcium stearoyl-2-lactylate, which is used as a food preservative.

Application

Kojic acid can be found in a number of different types of cosmetic products, including powders, serums, creams, cleansers, and soaps. Powders should be mixed with water or lotion, depending on the product instructions. Some products, like soaps and cleansers, are meant to be washed off immediately. Others, like creams and serums, are designed to be left on and absorbed into the skin. (However, kojic acid overall has relatively poor absorption rates below the surface of the skin.)
Some products — like face masks — are designed to be used only on occasion. Creams and cleansers may be used daily.
Products containing kojic acid are most commonly used on the face and hands, but can be used on all non-sensitive areas of the body.

Fusidic acid is an antibiotic. The medications are used for treating various bacterial infections and skin infections which includes cellulitis, impetigo and eye infections that include conjunctivitis (red and itchy eye). Fusidic acid is only available with a prescription. The drugs come in various forms such as cream, ointment, and eye drops. It is also combined with a steroid in some creams.

Niacinamide (nicotinamide) is a form of vitamin B3 (niacin) and is used to prevent and treat niacin deficiency . Niacin deficiency can cause diarrhea, confusion (dementia), tongue redness/swelling, and peeling red skin. Niacinamide is often used instead of niacin because it causes fewer side effects (e.g., flushing). Low concentrations terpineol can be used as flotation agent, wash agent and disinfectant.
Terpineol is widely used in ink making, chemical industry, light industry, medicine and telecommunications, etc.
